Poll #1830043 The Best 7th Gen Console

Which 7th Gen console is, in your opinion, the best?

Playstation 3
Nintendo Wii
Microsoft Xbox 360
Console gaming sucks, I'm a PC gamer!

Obviously, "the best" is objective, so please let us know in the comments how you define THE BEST.

wtf @ poll results formatting

PC gamer here. I love the keyboard & mouse combo, esp for FPS games, but most of all I like that I can replace individual pieces of hardware on my own as they die/become obsolete without having to scrap or replace a whole system.
myrasis 30th-Mar-2012 12:55 am (UTC)
Wow the graphic for the poll results is really stretched out... is this a layout issue?

also PC gamer all the way, mods, better graphics, better controls, better hardware, STEAM.

Tough choice because I feel like each console has it's own defining quality that makes it the best at what it does.

PC gaming has it's endless mods and I prefer the control system of a lot of games on PC.

Wii had the introduction of motion gaming (I know PS2 had eye toy, but lbr) that the 360 and PS3 more or less copied.

PS3 has blu ray! Enough said.

But I picked the 360 because I feel like it is a console that deserves a big round of applause. Overall it feels more user friendly, I prefer their exclusive games, they took motion gaming to an entirely new level with the kinect sensor, and they admitted they messed up big time with the RROD and gave their machines a page 1 rewrite.
silverdragon729 30th-Mar-2012 01:41 am (UTC)
I agree with you about the 360.

I really like how Microsoft has handled issues with their gaming, and I don't feel like they're constantly trying to find new ways to suck money out of us for unfair prices. Sony, on the other hand, likes to crow about how many more systems they sell, etc, but for the longest time their system was terrible, had lots of issues, and was waaaay overpriced.

Also, I like the controller more for the 360.
slaneyder 30th-Mar-2012 01:22 am (UTC)
Huwhooooooah, look at those poll results! I'll get Ben on the batphone and see what the problem is.

I think it's probably whatever tweak he made for images to be autosized per the post the other day?
poisoncity 30th-Mar-2012 01:25 am (UTC)
:[ I'm a Sony girl, so PS3 for now, but the info/rumors on the PS4 depress me. I'm thinking of becoming a PC gamer, just need to get a new laptop (any recs?).
sabishii_kirito 30th-Mar-2012 01:42 am (UTC)
Wii for me, mostly because of Zelda. If it weren't for LoZ I'd probably say PC, though I am a Nintendo person overall.
gringotts 30th-Mar-2012 01:45 am (UTC)
LoZ is why I will never give up on Nintendo :D

Can't say if I can say what's the best seeing as I never played PS3 and only bought an Xbox 6 months ago, but I loved and played the fuck out of my Wii. Wii pulled me back into gaming after not having a console since I sold my PS1, it's the "best" to me only for that reason.
voyevoda 30th-Mar-2012 01:51 am (UTC)
I'm not sure why I love the 360 so much, because by all rights it should annoy me (charging for online play, etc). But it doesn't, and I love it. I think it's because it is actually pretty user friendly once you get the hang of it. I've also found depending on where I look games will end up cheaper on 360 versus PS3. It also helps that most of my friends play on 360 (and I have two of them, so I can even multiplayer with my boyfriend regardless of splitscreen capability or not...if I'm willing to buy two of a game, anyway) so I'm not lonely on my little black box.

Speaking of the black box- the instant I realised that a lot of my games needed a 45 minute install before I could play, was the instant I realised I wasn't a fan of this console. =\ I use it only for BluRays or exclusives.

As for Wii, mine broke years ago and I haven't been arsed to fix it (and somewhat prefer the concept of Kinect moreso than the Wiimotes).

As for PC, I *do* love PC, but I don't generally have the heart to spend all the money needed to upgrade PCs. When I next replace my PC I hope to build it/have it built, but until then, WoW and SWTOR only.
emeraldus 30th-Mar-2012 02:01 am (UTC)
Had to vote PS3 as I liked it better than the Xbox: Bluray, free online, UNCHARTED lol. Only recently have I gotten a computer is capable of playing games and still I like the PS3 for the very simple controls. But in time I am sure I will grow to love PC gaming more. PC gaming is harder for me due to the evolving requirements but my new PC has the i7 processor and I think that'll do me good in gaming for a couple years. At the least. I HOPE lol.

mah bb is winning! :P
bishieaddict 30th-Mar-2012 02:17 am (UTC)
Can't choose. I haven't played on a PS3. My computer is starting to suck, it's time for an upgrade...I do like my xbox though.
Wii really kicked start the motion thing, so that was the biggest news for this gen. Xbox and PS were playing catch up with the Move and Kinect. I just don't really like the graphics on the wii.
redknightalex 30th-Mar-2012 02:21 am (UTC)
Honestly, I'm a PC Gamer at heart. That's where I started and that's probably where I'll end if video games ever die out. The ability to mod a game, even ones that you can't technically mod, is a huge plus. And, frankly, I love computers. Built my own, continually upgrade it, overclock...I think, to many hardcore PC Gamers, it isn't just about the games but about what you can DO with it and your hardware. We aren't content with what's given and instead decide to push the boundaries of what our machines may be capable of.

That and mouse and keyboard rule all when you play FPS, strategy games, or even third-person shooters. The only times I turn to my PS3 is when I've got an action game like Batman, Assassin's Creed, or Uncharted (also the exclusives).

And I also love my PS3. I think the exclusives are there and when most of the Xbox exclusives come to the PC anyway it was a clear choice for me. Then Sony decided it was a good idea to re-release the PS2 classics like God of War...well...hard to pass up.
ayashi 30th-Mar-2012 03:03 am (UTC)
360 is my favorite :) wide variety of fantastic games and best online community too! (I much prefer XBL to PSN)
kyuusei 30th-Mar-2012 03:32 am (UTC)
I love all my consoles (no PC sadly :() but lately the 360 has gotten the most of my attention because more of my friends play multiplayer there than on PS3 *coughMassEffect3cough* and I hate playing with randoms. Definitely really user friendly.
snorlaxation 30th-Mar-2012 03:55 am (UTC)
Well, I play primarily on the PC and Wii but I must say that I chose the Wii mainly because I can play with my grandma.

I <3 my grandma

360, hands down. It revolutionized online play, gamer achievements, wireless controls, the kinect, turning a game system into a media system, and only after 1 gen into the game. I used to be a PS/PSone/PS2 fanboy, and I even despized the original xbox, but the 360 totally changed that. Also, it was the first console I ever bought with my money, my 2008 model is my baby!!! :')
gringotts 30th-Mar-2012 05:09 am (UTC)
This x a million. Sure, Wii kickstarted the whole motion gaming stuff but it was the 360 that made it all fancy pants witht he kinect sensor.
crimsonspirit 30th-Mar-2012 07:23 am (UTC)
I also agree with this. Having played around quite a bit with all the poll choices, XBox 360 was my favorite for gaming for a long time now. Playstation 3 could have swayed me if there wasn't so many issues with it, was more affordable, and kept backwards compatibility.

PC gaming is still awesome, but the big issue is just affording a decent enough computer.

As for Wii, I have a lot of love for Legend of Zelda and Smash Bros 3. Outside of that, most of the games didn't appeal to me personally.
glenngunnerzero 30th-Mar-2012 04:45 am (UTC)
PC gaming by itself isn't that great of an experience, but quite honestly having some deep discounts at times, with a full range of input is great. Sadly the price is pretty damn steep if you're wanting a "recommended" system. However you can still play games from the 90's without having to pay again if you have the software and patience with trial and error on certain perimeters.

That being said If I didn't already have a computer capable of most games now, Xbox 360 might have been a good idea. Most games tend to cross over fortunately minus Halo and Gears of War.

PS3 - it's completely region free :D I bought mine in Japan and then brought it back to the UK so this was a vital feature.
vickyblueeyez 30th-Mar-2012 02:51 pm (UTC)
Region free for games right? Because I have my American PS3 here in Italy and it doesn't play certain Blu Rays. I haven't tried putting any Italian PS3 games on it.
rirakuma 30th-Mar-2012 06:54 pm (UTC)
Yeah, region-free for games. I don't watch a lot of films/tv so blu-ray isn't the priority for me, although being able to play Japanese blu-ray stuff is an advantage :)
sparowe 30th-Mar-2012 10:39 am (UTC)
I think I'd have to qualify that the PS3 is best "for me"--that said, I also have a 360, because I love the Fable series and Tales of Vesperia (though I do own a few more for it). I'm one of the few that likes the PS3 controller better, I love being able to play online without additional fees, and it's got a lot of exclusives that I love.

I want to get into PC gaming, have a computer that's capable... not sure how to transition to keyboard/mouse. Any suggestions out there?
copy 30th-Mar-2012 11:07 am (UTC)
The 360 for the controller, multiplayer and the user interface.
kniferomance 30th-Mar-2012 11:54 am (UTC)
I've always been a Sony/PS girl, so I've stuck with that console most of my life. It's never let me down, and I can't get used to the controllers on other systems now. lol.
lithiumflower 30th-Mar-2012 09:04 pm (UTC)
I still fell like the 360 controller is too big and slanted (I use a PS3 controller masquerading as a 360 controller for PC games), but the Wii controller is actually pretty great for me, though. I prefer it to the Gamecube controller. I'm the only person in our group who uses it when playing Brawl or Mario Kart, everyone else prefers to GCN ones.

Agreed on Playstation, though. I've had it since the PSX and unless Sony monumentally fucks up the next one AND Microsoft goes beyond the impossible, it's not going to change.
kniferomance 31st-Mar-2012 02:48 am (UTC)
I can't get used to the buttons on the X-Box controller, and I also find it big and clunky. *pets PS3 controller* Never change, lovely.
yisca 30th-Mar-2012 12:07 pm (UTC)
They're all cool!

I love my 360 for the Kinect and I prefer their controller...
PS3 for the PS network and blue-ray...
Wii for the easy access and they were the first with the motion control.
And I am a pc gamer as well!

I chose PS3 though because most games I bought were for this platform.
shinobu_k 30th-Mar-2012 01:58 pm (UTC)
1. Great JRPGs.
2. Thanks to Wii there's a lot of new gamers even if they're only casual. I think it's great to make a system that is capable to reach everyone.
vickyblueeyez 30th-Mar-2012 02:49 pm (UTC)
I actually liked 360 better but switched over to ps3 because it was free to show trophies and do online stuff. PS3 is growing on me, especially since I got one of the first gen that does backwards compat.
strwbrri_shrtck 30th-Mar-2012 03:03 pm (UTC)
360 for EVERYTHING EVER <3 <3 <3
elfyne 30th-Mar-2012 06:09 pm (UTC)
I've always been a Sony girl so I'm a bit biased, but between Blu-Ray system, free PS Network and Naughty Dog exclusives, the PS3 wins hands down. I like the look of it better, too, which is a bonus.
lithiumflower 30th-Mar-2012 08:59 pm (UTC)
PS3, it's not even a contest for me. I don't care for the 360 exclusives, user interface, or controller and I have an extremely low tolerance for competitive multiplayer games. I haven't even cracked open the multiplayer portions of Uncharted or Assassin's Creed. Plus, the back catalog of PSX/2 titles on the PSN, Blu-ray...360 is never happening for me.
kydeon 31st-Mar-2012 05:19 pm (UTC)
All my consoles are collecting dust in a cupboard somewhere. =(

PC for me.
weekendoffender 1st-Apr-2012 07:15 am (UTC)
Forever & always Xbox. I have no interest whatsoever in owning any other console, never have since I traded in my N64 for my first original Xbox.
authorial 2nd-Apr-2012 05:41 am (UTC)
xbox360 without a doubt. My PS3 gathers dust while my 360 has become the centre of all my TV based entertainment. Plus it has a superior library of games... the PS3 is sorely lacking in exclusive titles.
